Clemens | Mark Twain"), one page, Elmira, 5 August 1884, to an unknown recipient, apologizing for "this rag of paper," explaining that he is cruising in strange waters where paper is scarce; remnants of glue mounts on verso. — Autograph manuscript, n.p., n.d.,  [New York, 11 January 1908], entitled "Little Montana Girl's Compliment," read in a speech delivered at the Lotos Club, 11 January 1908: "She was gazing thoughtfully at a photograph of Mark Twain on a neighbor's mantelpiece. Presently she said, reverently, 'We've got a Jesus like that at home, only ours as more trimmings'"; light toning.
