Engraved portrait, 49 engraved plates; lower outer corner of first few leaves frayed, some light marginal soiling, marginal dampstain in latter half beginning at the lower edge and extending to the fore- and top-edge by the end, small marginal inkstain in pages 40-41. 19th-century blind-ruled calf, spine gilt-ruled in compartments with gilt-stamped title label; rebacked with original spine laid down, corners torn.

Catalogue Note
First edition. The author (fl. 1660-1683) was serjeant farrier to King Charles II who received the book's dedication. The illustrations appeared first, for the most part, in Carlo Ruini's Anatomia (1598).
