Written in pencil on 12-stave paper, the sketches for "Maybe" are on the first page and the more extensive ideas for "Clap yo' Hands" comprise the remainder of the manuscript, being 28 measures in all. Some of the ideas are harmonized, others are in melodic form only. Autograph composing manuscripts by Gershwin are of the utmost rarity.
