The picture has a transparent wax relining. There are several areas of qracuelure scattered throughout the painting, particularly to the lighter pigments in the lower half of the painting. There are seven tiny specks of old paint loss scattered throughout the composition, however the paint surface is stable and in good overall condition. Under ultravilet light, there is a very thick varnish over the lighter pigments in the lower right quadrant and some very minor scattered flecks of retouching, including a small area along the bottom right edge and another above the signature.
