State 2 used on a local wrapper in Dumbarton on Christmas Day 1843, clear to large margins except barely cut-into at the lower-right, tied by a black Maltese Cross cancellation, framed Dumbarton date stamp on the reverse in red. Also State 1 EB used on a small entire letter from Fleet to Horbling 27 September 1843, clear to good margins, black Maltese Cross cancellation, handstruck 'Fleet/Penny Post' opposite in black, Folkingham arrival date stamp below of 28 September and Wisbeach transit the previous day on the reverse; very fine. A FINE MATCHED PAIR OF STATE 1 AND STATE 2 COVERS. (S.G. State 2 off-cover £700 and State 1 on cover £225)
