Catalogue Note

Lady Bury's collection of the Scots Local Cancellations was very much a work- in-progress. She had acquired many rare cancellations rated 'F' and 'G' by R.C. Alcock in his handbook ,'Scots Local Cancellations Illustrated 1854–1860'. In addition, there are the immensely rare manuscript cancellations which are hardly known other than in this collection. Offering her study of these fascinating cancellations intact will afford another collector the opportunity of building the collection up to the highest award-winning status
