Condition
The larger - the top rail appears to be ash and with repaired breaks to either side of central flower head; rubbing to fruitwood armrests; right armrest with small patch to top behind through spindle at rear; remnants of painted surface to underside; rubbing scratches and scuffs to edges.
The smaller – top rail appears to be ash; repaired break to left ear with spindles loose and with a large patch to the back; rubbing to armrests; square patch to the center of the seat; underside of seat with heavily painted surface obscuring any restoration; traces of red-painted decoration to legs; both back legs with what appear to be patches to the insides at and below the juncture of the stretchers; old marks and scratches; later varnish.
