Condition
Beautiful carving and quality and badly restored and in need of cosmetic restoration; now with a high gloss finish which does not appear to have damaged the original surface and color; beautiful figuring to timber of top; appears to be a solid mahogany top throughout with a later leather lining which possibly conceals a polished top; repaired breaks tops of insides of front legs with later infilled blocks; age cracks and lifting to veneers of front frieze; side friezes with replacements and inpainting to veneers ; right interior section of right side concertina action replaced; legs now with black varnish and high gloss again appearing to retain its original surface and color are intact beneath the later surface; overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises; losses to leaf-tip-carved brackets of back legs; some hinges replaced.
