Catalogue Note
Charles Paillet (1871-1937) was an animalier sculptor and pupil of Georges Gardet. He exhibited at the Salon regularly from 1897 to 1913, and in 1921 signed a contract with the Barbidienne foundry. A gilt-bronze group "Grand Cerf Royal," which may be the same as this model, was offered at Drouot, January 22, 1981, and Rambouillet, November 7, 1982.
