A monumental Victorian parcel-gilt silver seven-light candelabrum centerpiece, R. & S. Garrard & Co., London, 1865

after a Paul Storr model, the circular base on four scrolled bracket feet, topped by fully modeled gilt figures of a bacchante and pipe-playing faun, two putti, a goat and panther, the fluted stem textured at the base and rising to six torsed reeded branches, plain campana sconces with detachable nozzles.

This candelabrum is copied from a model by Paul Storr, 1814, that was in the collection of the Dukes of Buckingham at Stowe.  At the 1848 Stowe sale, the candelabra were purchased by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths (see John Bodman Carrington and George Ravensworth Hughes, "The Plate of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths," Oxford: University Press, 1926, p. 101 and pl. 67).
