formed as a canted rounded square of openwork trellis set with twelve rose-cut diamonds centred with a larger circular-cut diamond, 56 standard, in orginal fitted retailer's case, together with presentation letter

Provenance

The letter included with this lot, dated 12/25 April 1911, is from the Russian embassy in Berlin to Frau Frida Döninghaus in Cologne, noting the gift of the brooch from the Empress, and asking Frau Döninghaus to confirm having received it.
