rounded rectangular, hammered surface, the lid applied with a diamond-set Imperial eagle, cabochon sapphire thumbpiece, further struck with maker's mark IP (Cyrillic), 56 standard, scratched number 7036, in original plush case, the lid applied with an Imperial eagle

Condition

Excellent condition, with only minor scratches consistent with age. The plush case with time wear.

This as-yet-unidentified maker is known to have been subcontracted to make cigarette cases for the firm of Morozov, which supplied the Imperial Cabinet.
