Catalogue Note

Lanceray's interest in hunting and horsemen led him to complete a number of important bronzes depicting historical and contemporary hunters with hawks. After his 1883 trip to Northern Africa, it is no surprise that he also added a mounted falconer to his series of wealthy Arab huntsmen.
