This painting has never been lined and probably not cleaned. It seems to be unvarnished. The paint layer is stable. There are no cracks and there does not seem to have been any abrasion or noticeable damage to the picture. While the picture could easily be hung as is, a light cleaning might brighten the palette and a light varnish might add more depth to the darker colors. The picture is clearly in beautiful condition.
