Condition

This painting on board is probably un-restored. It has slipped in the frame, causing slight damage along the bottom edge and a couple of scuffs along the top edge. There is also possibly a horizontal scratch to the right of the sun, but this, as well as the vertical line above the sun and beneath the centaur, might be original. The picture should be very lightly cleaned, stabilized and retouched along the bottom edge, varnished and more appropriately installed in its frame. The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
