Condition
This print is in generally fair to good condition. Upon close examination, the following are visible: in the upper right corner, a one-inch circular transparent deposit of indeterminate nature; in the lower right corner, a 2-inch circular smear; pin-point-sized matte deposits, possibly foxing, overall; and various small scratches, nicks, and scuffs.
The front of the mount is overmatted. On the reverse of the mount, Adams has written the following in ink: Negative No. '1-CAL-173' and Title 'Point Sur Coast Monterey Ca.'
Karen Haas's and Rebecca Senf's book, 'Ansel Adams in the Lane Collection,' publishes the most comprehensive list to date of the studio stamps and labels Adams used throughout his career. The authors' assessment of the use dates of stamps 5 and 6 on the reverse of this print is1962 to 1963. Adams has dated this print, however, 1962.
