Catalogue Note

This image, one of Stieglitz's quintessential New York studies, is perhaps best known as the small-format photogravure that appeared in Camera Work 36.  The large-format photogravure is far rarer.  Stieglitz authority Sarah Greenough locates only 3 such gravures in institutional collections: The National Gallery of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
