Large folio, loose as issued in the original brown ¾ morocco portfolio with flaps and ties
Condition
The missing plates are:
438. Karok Baskets
448. In the Forest - Klamath
463. Crater Lake
469. The Smelt Fisher - Trinidad Yurok
470. The Chief - Klamath
These plates are in generally good condition. The tissue exhibits rippling both in the corners and throughout the images. On Plate 444, the upper right margin edge of the tissue has come unmounted and there is a small crease and tiny tear. There are remnants of 4 rice-paper hinges on the reverse of the mount on Plate 460.
There is foxing, age-appropriate darkening, and light soiling on the mats. The mats are partially detatched from the mounts of Plates 439, 443, 450, 460.
The portfolio case is in generally very good condition. There is foxing and annotations in pencil on the plate list.
