mounted to Cadet illustration board, signed and titled in pencil on the mount, titled and annotated in pencil on paper affixed to the reverse, circa 1930
Condition
This early, warm-toned print on paper with a light surface sheen and mounted to cream-colored board, is in generally excellent condition. Upon close examination, a ΒΌ-inch crescent-shaped crease that appears to break the emulsion is visible in the upper left quadrant of the image. In high raking light, the following are visible: slight silvering in the dark areas of the image; and a few raised areas that presumably occurred during dry-mounting.
There is slight age-darkening and graphite-colored soiling along the periphery of the mount. There is a small light red deposit of indeterminate nature along the upper left edge of the mount. There are 9 tack holes on the mount, in each of the corners and along the upper and lower edges. The corners of the mount are lightly bumped or bent.
The note, affixed with cello-tape that has yellowed with age, reads: 'Fuchsia - Upright habit, #11. Native of Mexico, S. America, and New Zealand. There are many varieties grown in Southern California, some are single, others double. Fuchsia colors have a wide range and the growth habits range from 1 foot to 12 feet in height.'
