- daguerreotype
sixth-plate daguerreotype, cased, 1840s
Condition
This daguerreotype is in very good condition. There is uneven tarnishing around the edges of the image. The very faint horizontal line near the leftmost carpenter's hand in the center of the image is actually a bubble in the cover glass. The leather case, separated at the hinge, has been skillfully repaired with a strip of brown cloth tape.
