Type 53 Polaroid print, inscribed with the photographer's San Francisco address and 'Copy,' possibly by the photographer, in ink and with a handling instruction stamp on the reverse, 1960 (Singular Images, pl. 13; Polaroid Portfolio #1, pp. 32-33)
Condition
This Polapan Polaroid print is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, the impression of writing on the reverse is visible in the image.
The back of the print bears the following annotations in unidentified hands in ink and pencil: 'Photography by Ansel Adams 131-24th Ave. S.F. copy (underlined)' and 'AA - 53 - 10 - 1.' Also on the reverse, stamped in red, is 'Extremely important! Do not write on the back of the picture area of this print or attach anything thereto. Do not mount with any adhesive or use rubber cement near the image area. Do not bend or fold print. This is the original print and cannot be duplicated. THANK YOU!'
Also on the reverse is light rust-colored staining along the right edge. A thin line of yellow adhesive remains along the top and bottom edges.
