These early Polaroid prints are all made with Polaroid Type 40-series film, although the Polaroid database does not list specifically which film was used for each. The series was introduced in 1948, and the series numbers ran from 40 to 48. The deckled edges present on each of these prints, a feature of the earlier series of Polaroid films, suggest that they were made earlier, perhaps in the 1940s or 1950s. All of the prints are in near excellent condition. All are coated evenly, and share the same tiny imperfections one typically sees in the glossy finish of hand-coated Polaroid prints. The images are all strong, unfaded, and resolutely neutral in tonality. Specific condition notes are as follows: Seashore: Faint fingerprint center right, visible only upon close examination in raking light. Valley, Mountains, and Clouds: two small faint handling creases upper right corner, not breaking emulsion. Rock Formations in Silhouette: faint fingerprint upper left, visible only upon close examination in raking light.
