Description

  • Robert Mapplethorpe
  • 'OZZIE CLARK'
  • polaroid prints
a diptych of unique Polaroid Type 52 prints, one with technical annotations in pencil in the margin, in a tri-fold paper mat, signed, titled, and dated in pencil and Polaroid Collection stamps, with annotations in ink, on the mat, 1974 (2)

Condition

These Polaroid prints are in generally very good condition. On the left image, there are horizontal surface scratches and swipes which result in irregular tonality along the upper portion of the image; this likely occurred during processing. The same is visible on the right image to a lesser extent. Each of the photographs is affixed to the mat with small pieces of cello-tape on the corners of the prints. The mat is in generally good condition. The edges are worn and lightly soiled. There is a small stray red mark on the cover. The 'Polaroid Collection' stamps are annotated 'Mapplethorpe' and print numbers '3657' and '3658,' respectively, in an unidentified hand.
