Description

  • dagger box with the arms of the Ronchivecci, Uberi, Scarlatti and Baldovini families
  • polychromed gesso on a wood core with an iron lock and key, the inside lined with later dark green velvet with floral motives.

Condition

Overall the condition of the box is good. There is wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. The box has several areas of repainting, including to both sides and the reverse. There are a few minor losses, including to the corners of the lid. The hinges were replaced: wood inserts are visible were an old pair of hinges was mounted.
