Description

  • steel and brass on a perspex and metal mount
signed and dated: ILM 1727, steel and brass on a perspex and metal mount,

Condition

Overall the condition of the lock and key is very good. There is dirt and wear to the surfaces of both. There are minor abraisions, dents and scratches, including a slightly larger dent at the top of the shaft of the key. On both objects there is minor oxidization to the metal throughout. It is not possible to work the lock because the lock is glued to the perspex base, barring access to the keyhole. There are two original small holes towards the bottom of the lock at the front which were possibly for screws, now lost, and there is a small hole to the reverse on the bottom right. The lock is fixed to the base with pins, which are possibly modern. The condition of the perspex base is good with minor dirt and wear.
