Description

partially blued steel,

Condition

Overall the condition of the lock and key and hinge is very good. There is minor dirt and wear to the surface of the lock and key and hinge consistent with age, with some oxidization and minor corrosion of the metal on each of the objects, particularly on the right side of the strap of the lock. There appears to have been some painted restoration to the sides of the lock and to the end piece on the left of the door hinge. The edges of the second pin from the left on the hinge are damaged. There is slight warping to the metal of the lock and four small filled holes on the top. The two pins furthest to the right and left on the top have been glued in place. Both lock and hinge have been glued to the perspex mounts. It is unclear whether the lock is operational, possibly due to the way it is mounted. The condition of the perspex mounts is good with some wear.
