Description
- Genoa, a view of the city towards the mediterranean, with the Cathedral of San Lorenzo in the distance
- oil on canvas
Condition
The canvas has an old, somewhat tight, relining. There is an old, horizontal canvas join running across the painting approx 8 cm up from the lower edge.
The paint surface is generally well preserved, under a slightly yellowed varnish, although some of the darks of the trees and windows and figures in the foreground have suffered from abrasion.
Inspection under UV light reveals some scattered retouchings in the aforementioned abraded areas and patches of retouching in the sky on the left and right hand margins.
Offered unframed.
