Anonymous sale, Paris, Tajan, 9 April 1991, lot 43 for FF 90,000.
Condition
The canvas has been relined.
The paint surface is secure and appears to be in good condition under an old varnish. There is an old line of horizontal damage across the top of the canvas, approx 5 cm down from the upper margin (perhaps as a result of a canvas fold) and an old approx 10 cm vertical damage lower right along the margin. This is confirmed under UV light which also reveals some strengthening in the background around the head of the boy and his profile and some minor scattered further retouching.
Offered in a carved gilt wood frame with an egg and dart motif in good condition.
