Follower of Giovanni Antonio Canal, called Canaletto, 19th Century

The canvas is unlined. The paint surface retains much of its original impasto under a dirty old yellowed varnish. There is a small 2 mm squared hole upper left as visible in the catalogue illustration. Inspection under UV light is hampered by the varnish but some minor retouching work is discernable. Offered in a gilt wood frame with some knocks and losses.
