Description

  • Dirk van der Aa
  • an allegory of summer with putti disporting, en grisaille
  • oil on canvas, an overdoor

Provenance

Goudstikker collection, Amsterdam.

Condition

The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is secure and relatively clean under a glossy varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals some interference around the outline of the figures in the brown paint but whether this is a difference in varnish thickness or later strengthening is unclear.
