Spanish School, 16th Century

The support consists of four vertical panels joined to the reverse with two horizontal batons. The panel joins have in the past been reinforced with horse hair. Along the centre right join and in the top and bottom left corners the paint surface has started to blister and lift but otherwise the paint surface is generally secure under a yellowed varnish. Thorough inspection under UV light is impeded by the varnish but some retouching work in the joins and upper left is just about visible. Offered in gilt wood and plaster frame in good condition.
