Condition
The painting is a little cooler in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The unframed canvas has been relined. The paint surface is dirty, with fine craquelure, and under a discoloured varnish. Two small losses are present in the centre, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Minor surface scuffs, for example upper right, are visible under the uneven varnish. Inspection under UV lgiht is inconclusive due to the glossy varnish, though a restored small hole of 2 by 4 cm lower left flouresces. A new varnish and surface clean would improve the overall tonality of the work.
