Houghton Hall, Norfolk;
Thence by descent to the previous owner, by whom gifted to the present owner.

Condition

The canvas has been laid down on panel which has somewhat flattened the paint surface. Bar some minor paint losses along the upper margin, as visible in the catalogue illustration, the paint surface is secure under a dirty old varnish. INspection under UV light reveals some very minor scattered retouchings. Offered in a gilt wood and plaster frame in good condition.
