Description

  • A River landscape with peasants in the foreground, a herdsman driving his livestock down a woodland path with an italianate castle in the distance
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The canvas has been relined. The paint surface is secure and in good condition under a somewhat dirty varnish. There has been some abrasion in the browns of the lower foreground and upper left however most of the details are well preserved. Some minor scattered retouching work can be detected by the naked eye and this is confirmed under UV light which is otherwise impeded by the varnish, particularly in the left hand side of the painting. Offered in modern stained wooden frame in good condition.
