Description

  • portrait of a lady, bust length, wearing a red shirt with a white collar
  • oil on panel

Condition

The support consists of a single, thick, stable, flat panel. The paint surface is secure although thin with the ground showing through in areas. Some drawn lines are evident under the paint, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Fairly extensive retouching is visible to the naked eye in the green background and this is confirmed under UV light which also reveals scattered retouchings and infilling of old craquelure in the face and dress. Offered in an ornate carved, gilt wood frame in good condition if a little rubbed.
