The support consists of three vertical panels which are cradled on the reverse. The panels are basically flat but there is a little uneveness to the surface at the upper right. There is some retouching and restoration along each join and many small retouchings through the sky and localised areas of the landscape, such as to the bush immediately behind the Magdalene's head and the other bush immediately above. The left side of the Magdalene's torso has also undergone restoration. The varnish is dirty and the painting will benefit from its removal and a surface clean.
