Description

  • Jan Josef Horemans the Younger
  • Interior of a butcher's home, with a slaughtered pig, a woman cleaning carrots, a little boy blowing on the bladder, and figures near a fireplace
  • signed lower left: J Horemans
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests and the reds are less harsh. The canvas has an old effective relining. There's a small repaired damage upper left and a small dent in the upper left. There's a very tiny paint loss in the lower left corner, but otherwise, no damages are apparent and the paint layer is secure. Some minor retouchings can be made out in the background. The paint surface is under a very dirty varnish layer. Inspection under UV light is inconclusive due to the dirty varnish. Offered in a decorative gilt plaster and wood frame in good condition.
