Anonymous sale, Stockholm, Bukowski, 24 November 1999, lot 419 (as by Gerard de Lairesse).

Condition

The actual painting is a little softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is flat and stable and bevelled along the edges. No damages are apparent. The paint layer appears nicely preserved. Minor retouchings can be observed in the sky, in the lower foreground, in the figure on the right. The paint surface is under a fairly clear layer of varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals a few additional small retouchings in the draperies, and some in the faces of some of the figures. Offered in a wood cassetta frame with decorations in the centres in good condition.
