The actual painting is warmer and less blue in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has a stable relining with stretcher marks slightly visible to the front. The paint surface is secure though some areas of abrasion are apparent, in particular in the sky, where subsequent scattered retouchings can be made out with the naked eye. Further small retouchings and strengthenings can be observed in some of the figures and there are some small retouched paint losses in the lower foreground. The paint surface is under a glossy and dirty varnish layer. Inspection under UV light is partially impeded by the dirty varnish, but does confirm the aforesaid. Offered in a plain light wood frame in good condition.
