The actual painting is a little more yellow in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests, due to a very dirty and discoloured varnish layer. Its removal would improve the tonality of the painting. The canvas has an old effective relining. No major damages are apparent and the paint surface is generally sound, if somewhat abraded in the brown tones. There are a few scattered retouched and discoloured losses and some minor strengthenings in the figures can be made out. Inspection under UV light is inconclusive due to the dirty varnish layer. Offered in a decorative gilt carved wood frame in good condition.
