The catalogue illustration is representative for the actual painting. The canvas has an old relining. The paint surface is secure, though areas of abrasion are visible, particularly in the greens to the upper right, along the right edge and in the lower centre. The dogs seem to be in good condition. Some crude retouchings can be observed in the background upper right, in the sky and in the lower right corner. The paint surface is under a dirty layer of varnish. Inspection under UV light is impeded by the dirty varnish. Offered in a later plain gold painted wood frame in good condition.
