Description
- The Virgin Mary surrounded by angels holding attributes of the Passion
- oil on panel, en brunaille
Condition
The actual painting is a lot less green and warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The single panel is flat and stable and cradled to the reverse, because of a thin repaired and retouched vertical split running along the right edge. The paint surface is generally sound with a small retouched paint loss centre left and another one in the lower left corner. The paint surface is under a fairly clear layer of varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals a few additional small retouchings in the background, a few retouched surface scratches along the lower left edge and to the upper left, and some minimal strengthening in some of the figures.
Offered in a cassetta frame with gilt fillets and scroll leaf decorations in good condition.
