Description

  • Franz Werner von Tamm
  • Still life of roses, morning glory, carnations, forget-me-nots and other flowers on a stone ledge, together with a bunch of peaches
  • oil on canvas

Condition

The actual painting is softer and less red in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has an old stable relining. There's a fine craquelure thoughout which is slightly beginning to lift to the lower left and there's a tiny spot of paint loss to the upper right. The paint surface is fairly abraded in the background and lower foreground, and under a dry and dirty layer of varnish. Some tiny scattered retouchings in the background are visible to the naked eye. Inspection under UV light reveals some additional tiny retouchings in the foreground, and a few in the flowers in the centre. Offeerd in a plain black wood frame with gilt fillets in fair condition.
