The painting is slightly cooler in tone than the catalogue lillustration suggests. This large canvas has been relined and is offered in a later frame. To the naked eye this decorative canvas is under a discoloured varnish but with no major damages. Very minor scattered retouchings are scattered here and there, for example lower left and upper left with some of these losses infilled with retouchings which have now discoloured a little. Some further retouchings over old damage have discoloured upper right and upper centre. Inspection under UV light reveals some further scattered retouchings but large passages are untouched and the painting appears overall in good condition. The painting would benefit from a clean.
ERRATUM: PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There is a restored horizintal tear of 15 cms lower left. A further restored tear runs vertically in the centre of the canvas 10 cms from the upper edge down to the top of the central part of the architecture, diagonally to the right through to the top of the tomb and down to the left. These have both been sympathetically restored. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
