Condition

The painting is less red in tone than the catalogue suggests. This large and decorative canvas has a modern and effective relining which has not flattened the paint surface. The paint surface appears under a thick yellowed varnish which gives the painting a glossy appearance. Overall the work is in good condition with a couple of small restored holes and some minor scattered retouchings which are not obtrusive.
