The painting is yellower in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The recent relining has flattened the paint surface somewhat though the impasto remain better preserved on the animals. The paint surface, which is secure and under a yellowed varnish, appears abraded and flat in the background and sky. Small restored scratched are present upper right, lower right as well as a small restored tear centre right. Inspection under UV light reveals minor scattered infilled losses as well as some infilled craquelure. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame in fair condition.
