The paintings are less bright than the catalogue illustrations suggest. Both canvases have been relined. Both paint surfaces are generally secure with fine craquelure. Both paint surfaces are under a thick glossy varnish which impedes satisfactory examination under ultra violet light. However, in the second painting some old scattered retouchings are visible. Both are offered in a carved wood frames which are in fair condition but have some knocks.
