The painting is redder in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has quite a firm relining and the paint surface is dirty and under a yellowed and glossy varnish. Since the retouchings that have been applied have discoloured, most are visible to the naked eye. Scattered retouchings can be made out in the background as well as some surface scuffs, abrasion, and a restored small hole above the hand centre right. Inspection with UV light reveals further retouchings along the small craquelure in the face. The right hand has extensive retouchings as well as some retouchings infilled losses to the headdress, as well some retouchings in the face and hair. Offered in a later wooden frame in fair condition.
