Description

  • landscape with travellers resting at the edge of a village
  • Black chalk and gray wash, within black chalk framing lines;
    signed with initials and dated in black chalk, lower right: VG 1653

Condition

Sold in carved and gilded wooden frame. Hinged at top to acid mount which has caused the sheet to yellow at the margins. Foxing at the upper and lower margins, although very little in the drawing itself. The mount-maker's glue has touched the upper part of the paper. The inner edges of a previous mount has marked yellow lines around the eges of the drawing. However, the center of the sheet is clearer and fresher and the medium is still strong.
