Catalogue Note
Dated by Magrini to the 1740s. This picture forms part of a series of small canvases depicting Saint Jerome, which Magrini speculates was probably the result of a commission from a Confraternity dedicated to the saint. Other examples are in the Louvre, Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, and private collections in London and Milan.
